Overview
A Trojan Telnet is a Telnet server that that is installed on a user's computer by stealth means.

Once the Trojan Telnet server is installed an attacker has full Telnet access to a user's computer. Using Telnet access an attacker can perform many tasks on the computer or download and upload files.
Threat Level
Elevated to High Risk.
Action
  1. Use a quality spyware removal program to remove and prevent future infections. See our recommendations to automatically delete threats like these.
  2. Block Port 23. If you have a firewall or other software capable of blocking specific ports we recommend blocking the default Telnet port 23. Although attackers often customize malicious software to run on ports other than the standard assigned to a service but given the danger posed by Telnet/Port 23 we recommend it being blocked regardless.
